Working toward an adenoviral vector testing standard
This paper summarizes the proceedings of a conference held to discuss the development of an adenoviral vector standard. In response to the tragic death of Jesse Gelsinger, dose related toxicity became a focus in the field of gene therapy. The overall goals were to determine if there was consensus that a standard was useful, to identify technical and practical issues related to the development of a standard(s) for adenoviral vector testing, and to determine how to proceed with the development of a standard. I was part of the Adenovirus Reference Material Working Group that produced the standard now available at ATCC.
